Macelleria is an Italian steakhouse in the heart of the Meatpacking District’s Gansevoort Plaza. Our name, Macelleria, in Italian means “butcher shop”. It defines the Northern Italian cuisine served and the philosophy of using only the finest meats, handmade pastas, and freshest ingredients. Father and daughter team, Sergio and Violetta Biciti, bring years of family experience in the restaurant industry to this New York City staple known for its award winning, authentic Italian menu, which changes seasonally.

Opened in 2000, the restaurant is reconstructed from a former downtown meat locker. The two-story exposed brick walls, hinged doors, antique butcher blocks, vintage cases, and original 17th century Dutch stone walls in the Wine cellar embrace the history of the area and presents a unique space for dining, private parties and events.
